PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Ed Barnett has more than 35 years experience in commercial real estate as a consultant, broker and account representative. He has an extensive background in all sides of a transaction through his representation of tenants, purchasers, landlords and sellers. His work is primarily focused in River West, West Loop, and River North markets. His perspective is that of the overview – successfully completing an assignment for the benefit of the client while recognizing the expectations of each party in the transaction. He provides expertise in all phases of the process – planning, marketing, negotiation, documentation review and closing. Mr. Barnett received his BS in Business Administration from Drake University and has CCIM designation from the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute. He served as a bank direct or for many years and as a member of municipal and county planning and zoning commissions. CAREER HIGHLIGHTS Mr. Barnett is a top producer at Paine/Wetzel. Prior to joining the firm in 1981, he was one of three principals at a major downtown Chicago commercial real estate company and the lead broker in the 1,000,000 square foot successfully completed leasing assignment for Standard Oil (Indiana) when their 2,500,000 square foot headquarters was constructed in the Central Business District. He represented Canadian Pacific Railway in the planning, subdivision and sale of the retail, office, industrial, and residential components for North Shore Corporate Park, a 280 acre multi-use development in Glenview, Illinois. Mr. Barnett completed a 170,000 square foot long-term office sublease in Lincolnshire for Fortune Brands, the corporate headquarters lease for Mead Johnson in Glenview, a 52,000 square foot office lease for Vertis in River North, and leased/sold many larger industrial properties in Wheeling, Northbrook, Morton Grove, Buffalo Grove and many other of Chicago’s north suburbs. His real estate activity in Chicago’s greater downtown area, in addition to numerous office leases, includes the sale of properties at 575 W. Jackson Boulevard, 628 W. Jackson Boulevard, 168 N. Michigan Avenue, 220 N. Michigan Avenue and the south side of Roosevelt Road between Canal and Clinton Streets (a 570,000 square foot one-story building on a 16.5 acre site which was demolished and redeveloped as a shopping center), and recently, two adjoining buildings at 110 and 112 W. Hubbard Street in River North.
