Bio
Doug Claman has spent more than 30 years executing successful complex real estate transactions. He is a proven leader in providing real estate services to companies of all sizes, with a focus on financial services, the entertainment sector and beauty products businesses. Prior to launching JAAD Partners’ corporate real estate services platform in May 2015, Doug spent five years focused on commercial real estate leasing, primarily in Tenant Representation, and on Asset Management of approximately one million square feet of office and industrial properties located throughout Southern California.
Before he concentrated on Tenant Representation, though, Doug spent ten years as Head of Real Estate at Zenith Insurance Company (NYSE: ZNT) in Woodland Hills, California. Zenith was acquired by Fairfax Financial Holdings in June 2010. Doug was solely responsible for the real estate effort at Zenith, where he reported directly to the Chairman & President, and completed investments in land entitlement, land development, mixed-use retail development and triple-net leased retail properties. Doug's signing authority was $25.0 million.
Prior to Zenith, Doug worked in investment banking at Jefferies & Company where he was a Vice President in the Real Estate and Property Services Group. Coverage areas were homebuilding, real estate investment trusts, property services, hospitality and timeshare companies. Completed transactions included equity and high yield debt issuance as well as mergers & acquisitions. Before Jefferies, Doug worked at Canyon Capital Realty Advisors and closed principal investments in industrial, office and retail properties including development transactions.
Doug earned his MBA from UCLA Anderson and his BS in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Doug’s thorough understanding of real estate assets and markets, skill in negotiating and documenting leases and investment transactions and extensive capital markets experience provide tremendous value to his clients, who always come first.
