This includes high level communication and comprehension of development, design, tenant relations and negotiations, co-tenancy, construction, debt structures, partnership promotions for GP and limited partners, equity stacks, acquisition strategies, and optimal disposition advice.

Formerly Derek was a First Vice President of Investments with Marcus & Millichap, holding the title of Director within the National Retail Group (NRG), Senior Member within the Net Lease Properties Group (NLPG), and Member of the National Office and Industrial Properties Group (NOIPG).
With over twenty years of real estate experience, Derek has a reputation for his creative sales strategies and intuitive underwriting skills. Derek´s expert knowledge of lease negotiations/structure, land development, co-tenancy preferences, site layout fundamentals, construction costs, built-to-suit, reverse BTS, sale-leaseback structure, syndication, and financial modeling allow him to provide unique perspective on the sale of almost any type of commercial asset.
Prior to joining Marcus & Millichap, Derek worked at UCR moodyrambin PAGE where he was responsible for the leasing and sale of multi-tenant retail. Previously, Derek headed up the CBRE Houston Private Client Investment Group where he was recognized as one of the top 100 retail professionals within CBRE globally.
Derek has been featured on programs such as BBC Panorama for his expert knowledge in understanding the underlying dynamics of property valuation.
Derek has received consecutive Sales Recognition Awards in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017; as well as being a recipient of the National Achievement Award in 2014 and 2015. Derek ranked No. 3 overall in M&M for the sale of multi-tenant retail in 2014.
As a fourth generation Houstonian, Derek enjoys spending his free time on unmarked roadways deep within the wilderness. Derek is an avid survivalist an excellent driver. Most liken him to a combination of Earnest Hemingway and Winston Churchill.
