Dennis Nicotra was born into a family of entrepreneurs and saw firsthand what a little vision and hard work could do at Nicotra’s, his father’s local clothing store in West Haven. After attending New Haven College, he knew his true calling was in real estate investment and entrepreneurship. At age 16, Dennis had purchased his first investment property, a 3-family house in West Haven. His portfolio grew steadily, and soon, he owned properties all over New England. He built a management organization to take care of his properties that handled everything from 12-unit buildings to 500-unit complexes and controlled over 2,000 units of apartments, dozens of shopping centers and many office buildings.
He has extensive development experience—he has done everything from residential parcels of 20- to 100-acres, to a more recent urban commercial property on Temple Street in New Haven. In 1985, he acquired a 270-acre resort hotel complex on the island of Anguilla in the British West Indies. The previous owners had struggled to turn a profit, but after an extensive remodeling and re-positioning, Dennis turned the property around. In 1989, while he still owned it, the hotel was ranked in the top 10 vacation destinations in the world by Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report. He also developed—from scratch—a large condominium complex on the French island of St. Martin in the Caribbean.
Dennis brings to Olympia Properties over forty years of experience in entrepreneurship and real estate. His experience has ranged from developing luxury hotels, to managing thousands of residential apartment units, to creating numerous other startups.
