David D. Schwalb is President of Schwalb Realty Group, Inc. ("SRG"), a Chicago-based firm specializing primarily in privately-brokered real estate transactions. Mr. Schwalb established SRG in November 2002 to provide a more personalized service approach for high net worth families and institutions seeking to acquire top tier real estate assets.
Prior to the commencement of his career in commercial real estate brokerage Mr. Schwalb practiced corporate, finance and real estate law at several downtown Chicago law firms. Assignments included representation of buyers, sellers, developers and lenders in all aspects of real estate. Mr. Schwalb also served as outside counsel to a large national real estate brokerage firm regarding compliance matters.
During his six years of practice as an attorney Mr. Schwalb realized that many well-qualified commercial real estate buyers were underserved by most conventional brokerages which concentrate solely on marketing their own listings and conducting widespread mass marketing efforts. He recognized that there was a growing demand from sophisticated real estate investors to solely pursue acquisition opportunities that are not widely-marketed, nor widely-circulated, among the real estate investor community.
Mr. Schwalb has drawn upon his previous experiences as a real estate attorney and his passion for private real estate brokerage to work on several hundred million dollars worth of transactions. He has further enhanced the capabilities of Schwalb Realty Group, Inc. through the recruitment of highly-qualified and like-minded colleagues.
In the real estate profession Mr. Schwalb is a member of the The International Association of Attorneys and Executives in Corporate Real Estate ("A.E.C.R.E."), an organization whose members join to confer on trends and issues of concern to the corporate real estate community. In addition, Mr. Schwalb is a Real Estate Council member with the Gerson Lehman Group, which provides expert advice to various institutions.
Outside of the real estate arena, Mr. Schwalb currently serves on the Board of Directors of Equitech Int'l Corporation (OTC: EQTL), a manufacturer of proprietary spectroscopy equipment. He has previously served on the Board of Directors of the The Standard Club in downtown Chicago.
Mr. Schwalb graduated from the University of Illinois College of Law with a J.D. and from Boston University with a B.A. magna cum laude with distinction.
In the community, Mr. Schwalb currently serves on the Membership Committee of The Standard Club, the Board of Governors of the University of Illinois Hillel Foundation, and the Associate Council of the Chicago Emergency Fund. He has previously served on the Lookingglass Theatre Junior Board. He resides in Chicago, Illinois with his wife, daughter and son.
