Bio
Welcome to my bio! I am happy you’re here.
I am not a big fan of business biographies. Reading most bios is like watching a fast-food commercial, full of photoshopped mediocrity and spun like a politician’s campaign promise. The real experience leaves you disappointed and slightly nauseous.
Sitting down to write about what an *AWESOME* individual I am is no fun either.
It’s not because I haven’t had an incredible real estate career. I’ve helped 100’s of families sell a wrong-sized house or find their forever dream home. I’ve assisted businesses in growing and adapting to changing markets and made all but one of my investor clients a lot of money - what a blessing! But, I know that I am just a vessel, a reflection of God’s goodness and ability, and ultimately nothing I am or do is fully my own. I would rather brag about God and my team. I am also surrounded by a great team of agents, home inspectors, lenders, title & escrow people, contractors, social media gurus, and a broker with a phenomenal attention to detail. They make me look good and help make sure your experience is awesome, one you will remember positively as you go forward.
Now, since this is why you’re here, my Bio…
Curtis and his wife Kris have been involved in real estate since 1990, starting with a single rental unit in Reno, Nevada. After a short stop in Carlsbad, California (one year was plenty!), they fell in love with, and then moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. That same year, 1992, they opened a successful downtown bistro and catering company known for its creative food and phenomenal service. In 2000 they sold the restaurant and bought two run-down 4-plexes next to a cemetery at the end a dead-end road. Kris was elected to serve in the Idaho Legislature and Curtis now spent his days selling Xerox copiers and his nights perfecting his skills in plumbing, electrical, and sheetrock repair & painting. Over the next few years they raised their kids and added more units to their portfolio. Having some passive income allowed Curtis to become the executive director of North Idaho Youth for Christ and volunteer as a part-time youth pastor at his church.
Business opportunity coupled with a strong desire to experience shorter winters moved them south to Boise in 2004. While exchanging some of their North Idaho holdings to Boise area rental properties, Curtis decided it was time get a real estate license and, in 2005, he became a realtor. A short time later and at the request of his clients, they opened their personal property management company to the public. Now, 15 years later (OMG!), Curtis is an Associate Broker with Epic Realty, one of the top real estate brokerages in the United States and the most innovative in service, technology, and client experience. Curtis also teaches classes on the real estate investing, 1031 exchanges, and property management. Kris is semi-retired but remains the principle at Custom Property Mgt.
The craziness of 2020 led to the founding of Curtis’ newest venture - Red State Relocation. Our dream is to help freedom-loving individuals, their families, and their businesses move to Idaho, leaving behind high taxes, onerous regulations, and negative environments. Your success becomes our success.
In addition to real estate, Curtis & Kris have been married for over 30 years, have 2 grown children, and one grandson. For fun, they run and bike the Boise Foothills, ski at Bogus, Brundage, & Tamarack, camp & backpack Idaho’s indescribable wilderness areas, and enjoy eating & drinking in many of the area’s many 5-Star restaurants
