Clifford joined Savills in 2009, bringing with him more than three decades of experience in the sale and leasing of retail real estate assets. As part of the firm’s National Retail Services Group, Clifford has counseled retail tenants on multi-location rollouts and advised owners on how to strategically create and maintain value of their assets. His tenured perception of effective workplace strategy and business development make Clifford an invaluable business asset for real estate decisions and afterward.
Clifford works out of Savills New Jersey office in Rutherford, but has led retail efforts throughout the tri-state area during his illustrious career at CBRE and Colliers International. For instance, Clifford led the management and leasing of 500 Fifth Avenue, NY, which included a 23,000 square-foot, $52 million lease with international retailer Zara. He also led the 100,000 square-foot expansion of Georgetown Park in Washington D.C. and orchestrated the $180 million sale of Barney’s New York portfolio in New York, Chicago, and Beverly Hills.
Clifford was the co-leader of an onsite management team that secured entitlement for a 1.2 million-square-foot super regional mall, Galleria at Crystal Run in Middletown, NY. He also secured Plaza District flagship locations for Turnbull & Asser, Smythson of Bond Street, and Shanghai Tang. While leading a brokerage alliance, Clifford and his team secured 50 new branch locations for JPMorgan Chase, and he also co-captained a strategic planning team that leased 50 new AT&T locations in Metro NY.
Clifford is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), and also sits on the REBNY Stores Committee. In addition, he is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). In 2008, REBNY award Clifford the ‘Most Ingenious Deal of the Year Award’, given to the deal that most significantly benefits the retail market.
