Brendan Sorem is a Vice President of Investments at JBG SMITH, a Washington, DC based mixed-use REIT focused on urban infill investment and development. Mr. Sorem’s responsibilities include acquisitions, dispositions, and investment management of the in-place portfolio and development opportunities.
Prior to JBG SMITH, Mr. Sorem was a Partner focused on Acquisitions & Development at Redbrick LMD, a Washington DC based diversified real estate investment management and development firm. At Redbrick, Mr. Sorem worked with the managing partners to source, underwrite, structure, and capitalize acquisitions and development transactions across asset classes, primarily focused on mixed-use multifamily and office properties in the Washington, DC metro.
In his career, Brendan has acquired over 10,000 multifamily units and commercial assets representing over 14 million square feet and $7 billion of asset value.
Mr. Sorem was previously in the Real Estate Investment Banking Division at Barclays Capital. Mr. Sorem started his career at The Blackstone Group, where he was actively involved in the process that led to the firm’s Initial Public Offering in 2007.
He is a graduate of the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. As a native Washingtonian, Brendan lives and dies (but mostly dies) for all things DC sports. In his free time, he enjoys boating, golfing and any other excuse to be outside with a cold beverage.
