Bio
Entering Real Estate as a hobby forty years ago and professionally nearly twenty years later, Billy Keyserling has mastered all levels of real estate. Starting as a general residential agent, Billy became a very successful top producing agent. He started Keyserling Real Estate which became Coldwell Banker Keyserling and then merged his growing company with Coldwell Banker Platinum Partners so he could specialize in commercial real estate and real estate investments.
While he maintains a general brokerage business, Keyserling most recently obtained his securities licenenses (series 22 & 63) and works as a Registered Representative with Welton Street Investments as well as Coldwell Banker Commercial.
With dual licenses, Keyserling distinguishes himself as an expert on “Tax Efficient Strategies for Exiting Highly Appreciated (and Depreciated) Assets”
By melding these disciplines Keyserling is involved in securitized real estate as an option for 1031 like kind exchanges, conservation easements and real estate for charity. A Beaufort native, Billy Keyserling graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Brandeis University and earned his MS in Public Communication from Boston University. Billy spent sixteen years working inside and outside of government in Washington, DC where he served as legislative and administrative assistant in the US House and Senate, helped establish a corporate public affairs firm and directed an international human rights campaign. In 1989 Billy returned to Beaufort, was shortly thereafter elected to the SC House of Representatives where he served for two terms before serving one term on Beaufort City Council. As one of the area’s top producing Realtors, Billy is also recognized for historic restoration and urban infill projects including The Village at Port Royal, restoration of Beaufort’s old Firehouse and 710 Boundary Street, a mixed use building which was recognized by Coastal Living Magazine.
While some real estate professionals and developers dread the regulatory challenges, Billy embraces the public process and uses his public affairs skills and experience to achieve support for innovation. Keyserling considers himself a “matchmaker, matching good ideas with good developers to do the right project to meet market opportunities.”
