Ben Shapiro serves as a Vice Chairman in Newmark’s New York headquarters. Having leased over 20 million square feet in his career, he is a notable and trusted tenant representative and part of the leadership team spearheading Newmark’s Technology & Innovation Practice Group, a group of specialized advisors focused on the Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) sector and providing global connectivity to our clients.
Prior to joining Newmark in 2013, Shapiro served as a Director with Cushman & Wakefield.
In 2019, Shapiro was the inaugural recipient of Commercial Observer’s Breakout Broker Award and an honoree at Connect Media’s Next Generation Awards.
The previous year, he received the Most Ingenious Retail Deal of the Year award from the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), for successfully representing Peloton in the lease for its “Super Studio” at 5 Manhattan West.
In addition, Shapiro is a regular industry panelist, multiple recipient of the Costar Power Broker Award and has been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, New York Post and Commercial Observer.
Shapiro is a member of REBNY and the Young Men’s/Women’s Real Estate Association of New York. An active member of his community, Shapiro sits on the leadership council at Blythedale Children’s Hospital and is the founder of The Billy Mac Fund, a scholarship fund for at-need college students in the Tri-State Area.
