Austin Sanders joined Cushman and Wakefield in 2016 as a Senior Vice President of the Government Services Group. Before joining Cushman & Wakefield, Austin spent his entire career at Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, representing owners in leasing transactions with the Federal Government, as well as investors through acquisition, disposition, and financing of federally leased properties nationally.
Austin is an expert of the federal leasing process. His in-depth knowledge of both federal leasing and investment sales at a national level is unsurpassed. This proficiency allows him to effectuate the most advantageous leasing transactions possible on behalf of his clients. His knowledge of General Services Administration (GSA) requirements and minimum standards as well as building systems allows him to advise owners on how to “value engineer” proposals, minimizing the amount of capital required to procure and retain GSA and Federal Agency tenants. In the investment sales arena, Austin tracks specific agency renewal trends, allowing him to better advise investors in the underwriting of properties. In the past three years Austin has advised owners in over 60 leasing
and sales transactions involving the Federal Government.
Mr. Sanders is a member of the Greater Washington Commercial Association of Realtors (GWCAR) and the Federal Real Property Association (FRPA) as well as the University of Maryland and Landon School for Boys alumni organizations.
Mr. Sanders attended Bucknell University and the University of Maryland and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. While attending Bucknell University, Mr. Sanders was a member of the varsity lacrosse team.
