History
Our legacy begins with our founder, Peter Ross, and his firsthand experience in caring for his mother. The problems he experienced finding high quality, professional and compassionate care, ultimately led him to found Senior Helpers®, one of the largest premier providers of in-home care in the United States today. It is through Senior Helpers® and their expertise in Alzheimer’s and dementia care that Peter was introduced to the George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers, Inc. Dr. George Glenner was a physician and Alzheimer’s researcher at the UCSD School of Medicine and conducted research which identified the beta-amyloid protein recognized as the hallmark of Alzheimer’s disease. While his discoveries and explorations helped to advance our knowledge, the concern for the families and the enormous stress the disease puts on caregivers, provided the poignant foundation for the creation of the nation’s first adult day care program for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease- the George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers, Inc. In 2018, the Town Square concept was officially launched in Chula Vista, California. Town Square is a one-of-a-kind experience featuring an interactive, fully immersive environment for seniors using Reminiscence Therapy. The combination of Senior Helpers, the in-home experts in Alzheimer’s and dementia, partnered with George G. Glenner Alzheimer’s Family Centers, Inc., experts in the adult day care space, allows us to bring the unique experience of Town Square to seniors across the country.
