Overview
Deck Rescue is an exciting and rejuvenating home service business that restores decks, fences, playsets and log & wood-sided homes. We also wash vinyl siding and wash / seal concrete driveways and patios. We enjoy very little competition in most markets, as the majority of pressure-washing firms do no wood staining. Because of our low overhead, most franchisees realize net profits in the 25% - 30% range.
Deck Rescue has a unique royalty structure where your contributions are capped each year upon reaching $200,000 in revenue. At that point, you enjoy royalty-free revenue for the remainder of the calendar year! Experience the true joy and satisfaction of entrepreneurship under a system which does not penalize those performing the best (as traditional franchise systems inherently do).

Why Choose Deck Rescue?
- Work Outdoors: Earn your living with the sun on your back! You are bringing old, dingy decks and other wood structures magically back to life, making them look new again! Not only are you rejuvenating the wood, you are rejuvenating YOURSELF!
- Active Lifestyle: Deck Rescue literally keeps you on your toes as you meet with multiple homeowners daily. You're never at one jobsite very long and therefore live a healthy, dynamic lifestyle as an owner / operator. No need for a gym membership when you own a Deck Rescue franchise!
- Few Competitors: You will enjoy healthy profit margins since you're not competing with a multitude of competitors in your industry. Deck Rescue is a "niche" business that is in extremely high demand. Decks are personal sanctuaries for homeowners. You become their hero when you bring it back to life!
- Exceptional Training: You will be taught by the FOUNDER of the company, Dave Hydock, not a hired hand who may lack the passion and experience gained from having been in business for 28 years. In basically two weeks, you learn THREE DECADES of expertise in both in the field and in the office.
- Franchisee Support: Our franchisees are extremely supportive of one another. You can call on them with questions or guidance in addition to working directly with the founder. You are never alone in our system! We interact as family members in our tight-knit franchise system, not like strangers in a vast, faceless conglomerate with hundreds of units.
- Job Satisfaction: When you see the "before & after" difference of what our process does to gray, dead-looking wood, your heart soars. You feel so satisfied and proud as grateful homeowners thank you profusely. Deck Rescue is fun and emotionally rewarding.

Training and Support
As a Deck Rescue franchisee, you are trained by the FOUNDER of the business, not a hired hand or third-party consultant. You will receive an Operations Manual, training videos, classroom training and field training on your first few jobs. We will teach you how to use Quickbooks and maintain your books. You have a network of other franchisees to consult with if you have questions and want multiple opinions. We highly encourage you to participate in our Deck Rescue Franchise Forum on Facebook. You can post photos of jobs you are on and get real-time answers to your questions. We have an annual meeting in Ohio each March where you interact face-to-face with everyone and brainstorm as a group. In general, you are NEVER alone. You will succeed if you take advantage of the many people willing to help and are not afraid to ask questions. Don't go it alone -- ask for assistance! It's all around you.
History
Dave Hydock founded Deck Rescue in 1995 at age 25 in Cleveland, OH. Three years later, he quit his inside sales job telling his boss, “I can’t afford to keep you any longer!” He franchised the business in 2006 and now has 10 franchisees operating in 11 territories. Along the way, Deck Rescue has received multiple honors including the franchise system being endorsed by Wolman, inventors of pressure-treated lumber. They were also recipients of the 2003 BBB Torch Award, honoring Businesses of Integrity. Hydock was a member of Rust-Oleum’s National Contractor Advisory Board in the early 2000’s. He presently resides in Litchfield, OH where he actively operates his company-owned territory.
Ideal Candidate
- Active and outdoor-minded: Our ideal candidate gets out of bed early, needs to be constantly in motion and can’t wait to get in front of people. He or she has exceptional communication skills and a desire to make folks happy. No need for a gym membership when you own a Deck Rescue franchise!
- Multi-tasker: The ability to be able to multitask and more importantly, PIVOT, is a must. Your plans for the day can turn in an instant if poor weather unexpectedly comes in or an employee calls off. You always have to have a Plan B and Plan C in your hip pocket to maximize productivity.
- Strong Financials / Credit History: No prior business experience is necessary, but we need to see strong financials and a history of good credit. Our ideal candidate has as strong a commitment to the financial side of the business as they do to the quality of work in the field.
- Integrity: One of five Core Values is, “Always do the right thing.” We rely on franchisee honesty, transparency and good ethics to keep our business moving forward into our third decade.
