Profitable Parts Business & Sole Supplier for Lodal Refuse Truck Parts
Turnkey parts business that can easily be added to an existing manufacturing or truck parts business. Lodal manufactured the EVO garbage truck and was in business from 1953 until 2021. After Lodal closed and stopped building the trucks I took over selling parts to keep customers trucks running and also manufacture parts as needed. I was able to secure welding fixtures, parts, drawings, files and the server with accounting software. This allowed me to be able to continue to manufacture and supply parts to the customers that owned Lodal products.
We currently have a completely welded up tandem axle split body truck in stock that could easily be the first truck manufactured. The Lodal EVO garbage truck was manufactured since 1968 and is the only garbage truck completely designed to pack and haul garbage. The chassis and body are all built as one unit unlike other manufactures that install the body on another manufactures chassis. This allowed Lodal to have 100% control of the manufacturing process and supply all the parts to customers.
Lodal also built other products like the GT Bucket Loader. This is a truck that has a bucket mounted on the front and could load itself or other trucks with snow, gravel or just about anything it could scoop up. The GT Bucket Loader was the product that started Lodal and was designed in 1948 in Norway Michigan. Lodal was incorporated in 1953 and they sold the GT all over the country. Lodal built them up until the very end and was one of the last products Lodal shipped out. The Gt Bucket Loader Shipper would be purchased and installed by a Lodal dealer.
My goal is to find a buyer that can take over the parts business and possibly continue to build the products that Lodal manufactured since 1948. I am the only supplier of original Lodal parts, so the parts business is very well established and I have a lot of loyal customers. I have everything needed to continue this business and grow it back into the manufacturing business that it was. The only reason Lodal stopped manufacturing the EVO was because of Covid causing so many parts supply issues. I currently don't have any problems buying new parts for resale and I can explain this in more detail to an interested buyer.
I would also be willing to work for the new owner for as long as needed or until I retire. I have over 20 years of experience with the Lodal products and would enjoy helping a new owner grow the business and someday see the EVO's rolling off the assembly line again.
What I am selling: Everything I have acquired over the last 3 1/2 years which includes all of the files, rights, intellectual property, parts drawings, schematics, books, literature, engineering documents, welding fixtures, parts and parts vendor info, server with accounting system and engineering auto-cad program. I am also selling the first Lodal garbage truck sold in 1968 and all the manufactured parts including the chassis for the last truck that we welded up before closing. Also Includes a lot of historical pictures, patents, financial documents and the corporate meetings books all the way back to the first meeting in 1953.
Currently all 3 of the Lodal buildings are for sale and are not owned by me. I do rent from one of the current owners for storage and parts manufacturing purposes. The business could easily be moved to a new location if desired or purchase the Lodal buildings and restart in the buildings that Lodal moved into in 1964. The buildings were built by Henry Ford in the early 1900's and they manufactured the Ford Woody bodies and Kingsford Charcoal.
The purchase price is based off the current profit from the parts business and all the assets I have accumulated. It was hard to put a price on 70 plus years of engineering but I feel the asking price is very reasonable for what would be purchased. Inventory could be more than listed and is a starting point. The refuse industry is growing and recession proof as garbage will always need to be picked up.
