My story: I worked in the semi-conductor labs at Texas Instruments for over 35 years and had rental properties in the Dallas area. Paying for AC and Heating work at my rental homes became expensive, so I took classes to learn how to repair them. This eventually led to my becoming a TDLR contractor and, upon retirement from TI, I started DESCO Air as a "hobby". My business was a huge success and grew only by word-of-mouth advertising. This is a home-based, sole proprietorship, DBA, husband and wife team. My "hobby" yields about $160,000 net per year.
DESCO Air is recognized as a "Nextdoor Favorite" due to the positive reviews and recommendations on the Nextdoor neighborhood social media platform. My customer base is over 600 individuals, with many residing in the Park Cities and Preston Hollow areas of Dallas. DESCO is a preferred contractor for a local fire and water restoration company, a large local property management company, and is on a preferred list of local realtors.
