This company was launched by winning a grant during the pandemic and was able to prototype, complete the video training, and is now ready to scale and grow.
Ordinary Pets Can Alert Owners of Disease
Your dog wants a job! Dogs can be trained to alert their owner of disease including COVID, diabetes, cancer+ and they are delighted to participate! Our current offering includes a physical kit with samples along with training videos of scent detection training which will work for any disease. What started with COVID is now pivoting to detect other diseases including cancer. Here is the work ahead which the new owner can own with the support of the founder.
1. Startup mode – Here's the challenge. YOU NEED TO SECURE A SOURCE FOR SCENT SAMPLES NATIONALLY AND LONG TERM. Initially, order a small batch of kits, targeting early adopters, test the market, listen to feedback, adjusting the kits accordingly, planning ongoing content, build community and grow momentum. (studies, techniques, success stories, etc).
2. Scale – Decide when to hire a vendor drop-ship (Amazon?); shelf life. Determine the lifecycle of scent kit replacements, getting reminders in place “it’s time to refresh your samples.." This is a great community-building time with social media efforts that can publish success stories and share best practices.
3. Grow -- Broaden the market and/or go after niches and gov contracts with additional growth opportunities such as:
• Add trainers as our first-line close-knit community that brings this to their clients or incorporates into their biz, Rover, individual dog trainers, etc. Add to the video content library.
• PR tour – the press is happy to write about this topic, so you merely need to make yourself available.
