About Anderson County
Anderson County, South Carolina, is a fast-growing suburb of Greenville situated along the rapidly developing Interstate 85 corridor between Charlotte and Atlanta. Residential migration to the nearby Greenville-Spartanburg area, combined with industrial growth along I-85, has brought new job opportunities to the area as major distribution and manufacturing facilities have opened in recent years. TTI, Electrolux, and Walgreens are among the more than dozen companies with 600,000 square feet or more of industrial space.
Job growth has led to population and wage growth, bolstering retail spending in the area. Anderson County’s population has grown by more than 10% over the past decade, leading to new store openings such as those for home goods and grocery retailers, as well as the entrance of new experiential brands such as Orangetheory Fitness in 2022.
While industrial job growth drives much of the population growth in Anderson, nearby Clemson University has continued to increase enrollment to nearly 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students, improving the prospects for retail brands geared at a younger demographic.
