Stoneleigh Abbey is a historic estate located near the village of Stoneleigh in Warwickshire. Originally founded as a Cistercian monastery in the 12th century, it was converted into a grand country house after the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century. The estate has been owned by the Leigh family since the dissolution, and they have played a significant role in its history and development. The Abbey underwent significant alterations in the 18th century, when it was remodeled in the Palladian style by architect Francis Smith of Warwick. The interior was adorned with elegant Georgian furnishings and decorations, and the surrounding landscape was transformed into beautiful gardens and parkland. The Abbey is located approx. 3.5 miles south of Coventry, 2 miles from Kenilworth and 3 miles north of Leamington and Warwick.
