Retailing in Inverclyde centres around Greenock and the smaller towns of Port Glasgow and Gourock, which boast panoramic views of the Clyde Estuary on the scenic west coast of Scotland. Greenock, the area’s primary retail centre, lies approximately 25 miles west of Glasgow via the A8/M8 motorway, while rail services run between Greenock Central and Glasgow Central every 30 minutes.
Despite its relatively small population of around 80,000 residents, the retail catchment within 10 miles of Inverclyde’s major towns extends to around 180,000 people, according to Experian. Major retail hubs in the area include the Oak Mall Shopping Centre and Waterfront Retail Park, both in Greenock, and the Clydebuilt Shopping Park in Port Glasgow.
Retailers in Inverclyde enjoy relatively lower trading costs than in Scotland overall.
