ABOUT FAIRFIELD
Fairfield is a centrally located suburban city in the North Bay Area, sitting a nearly equal distance between San Francisco and Sacramento. Fairfield is home to Travis Air Force Base, which handles more cargo and passenger traffic than any other military air terminal in the United States. The base employs over 14,000 people, the largest employer in Solano County, and generates healthy economic activity for the city. Fairfield also serves as the seat of Solano County. Outside of government employers, Jelly Belly Candy Company is headquartered in Fairfield, and several regional medical centers, including the Northbay Medical Center and Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus, are significant employers in the area. Fairfield boasts a charming downtown area filled with shops and restaurants, and the city offers plenty of outdoor activities, including wineries, golf courses, and regional parks just outside of city limits.
Fairfield’s easy accessibility to Northern California’s major economic and population centers enhances the desirability of industrial space in the area. The primary freeway connecting San Francisco with Sacramento, Interstate 80, passes directly through Fairfield. Interstate 680 joins Interstate 80 in Fairfield, connecting the city with the East Bay and San Jose further south. State Route 12 connects Fairfield with Napa to the west.
Fairfield houses more industrial inventory than any other city in Solano County, and developers have been active in recent years, enhancing the areas stature as an industrial hub. Major industrial operations in the area include a large Anheuser-Busch brewery, a Clorox manufacturing facility, and Jelly Belly Candy Company’s factory. In addition, many of the largest industrial tenants in Fairfield are manufacturers, shipping, and packaging companies associated with Northern California’s nearby wine industry.
