Adbolton Ln

The grassland has been regularly grazed or mown when conditions have allowed and land capable of cultivation has been in an arable cropping rotation. The land was formerly subject to sand and gravel extraction which has created the wetland habitat and large body of open water. Quarrying activities, which started in the area in the 1940’s, ceased in approximately 2004 with the main body of water having been referred to as the “A52 pit”. The water at its deepest point is understood to be 2.4 metres . The land lies in a unique position immediately adjoining the National Watersports Centre and a short distance (less than 3 miles) from Nottingham City Centre. The A52 lies immediately to the south of the land and gives access to the A46 to the east and M1 to the west (junction 25). The River Trent is 350 metres north of the land and it is only a short distance to Trent Bridge, Nottingham Forest FC’s City Ground, and Notts County FC’s County Ground. The site occupies a high-profile position situated just off one of the key routes into the city itself as well as benefitting from a number of points of access from the surrounding road network.
