Estherville golf course was established in 1939. It is an outstanding 9 hole 3146 yard par 36 course that sits on 76 acres tucked against fort defiance state park. This course proves to be more challenging than many in the area with mature tree lines, rolling hills, 9 sand bunkers and water coming into play on two holes. There is ample parking, seven cart barns to house ninety plus private carts, pump shed, chemical shed and a newly constructed 40 X 90 maintenance building. The irrigation system was replaced in 2014 with a three row system capable of watering the whole course from tree line to tree line. Installed in 2015 was a new well and Danfoss VLT aqua drive. The system is controlled by the the Hunter advanced commercial controller and decoder system. All golf course maintenance equipment is 2008 and newer and has been well maintained routinely. The 3768 sq ft club house upstairs has a pro shop, bar, and seating for 250 people. The clubhouse has been known to be an outstanding venue for weddings, reunions and various events due to the beautiful setting. The kitchen has an updated captiveaire hood system, walk in cooler and is fully equipped to run a restaurant. Downstairs has seating for 60 people and a bar, and a additional kitchen space. Estherville golf course is the only course within twenty miles but is close enough to attract golfers visiting the Iowa great Lakes. Estherville Golf Course is supported by the yearly season pass holders and daily green fees. There is an opportunity to grow the business by way of utilizing the restaurant for year round business. There is land on site for housing development for additional growth. The land is unique as it also is an outdoor enthusiast's dream. There are 10 acres of timber that borders against Fort Defiance State Park that is known for prime hunting.
