Greensboro is part of the Piedmont Triad, a region in North Carolina encompassing the Greensboro-High Point and Winston-Salem metropolitan areas. Historically, the metro’s local economy was centered around textile, tobacco, and furniture manufacturing, but the area has become the center of a wide variety of industries in recent decades.
