The Monkey Tree Hotel was built in 1960 and is a classic example of mid-century modern architecture. Built just down the road from the famous Racquet Club, legend has it that the hotel was a getaway for celebrities who wanted to have some privacy from the public and still be only a two hour drive from the Hollywood studios in case they had to rush back to the set. Although the hotel has changed hands over the years, The Monkey Tree Hotel has been a continuously operating hotel since 1960. The new owners purchased the property in November of 2015 and restored the 60-year hotel back to its original name – The Monkey Tree Hotel.
