Property Overview
This sector of Tyler was historically an area of established residential and older commercial development traditionally centered around the hospitals on S. Beckham. Given the presence of the hospitals there are significant numbers of medical related properties in the neighborhood. Additionally the campus of Tyler Junior College is located on E. 5th Street just east of S. Beckham Avenue which has a significant impact on the neighborhood land use. The neighborhood has been a prominent sector for Tyler for over 50 years and many of the properties are beginning to be re-developed and renovated. This is a result of the continued demand for the neighborhood and its continued prominence to the overall Tyler economy. Additionally, the University of Texas System has announced its intention to establish a medical school in Tyler.
